In one circumstance it was quicker to cart ore directly back to my base, and I guess the main thing is zigzags (I’m talking small ‘left right’ ones to get over tiny bumps in terrain, especially those pesky ones that somehow appear in paths) good food (stamina), long rested bonus, and eikthyr ability. Not sure how close your mountain is to the ocean, but I generally go all downhill with the cart and rendezvous with the boat, then cart it from my dock to my base Every other material you need for setting up smelting and forging can be brought through portals once you have your site selected. Along with enough materials to set up a portal back to your main base, that's just a bit too much for you to carry on your person in one single trip, but easily accomplished with two trips from your landing site. You can reach that by just bringing 2 Bronze, 16 copper, and 15 Iron with you.

Other than all of that, I just don't bother bringing it anywhere but my main Mountain base, since it really isn't used for anything but armor and a couple of weapons!ĮDIT: Just to go a bit more in depth, the absolute highest level Forge you need in order to fully upgrade silver tier is level 6. Heck, if you really want max level kitchens in multiple places even half a stack could set up 7-8 kitchens on its own. The final exception is the Butcher's Table, which needs two silver bars, but that's easy enough to just grab to bring back to your main kitchen. Not a lot is vulnerable to slash or spirit, so I generally just skip that weapon entirely.Įvery other bit of armor that uses silver can be crafted in the Mountain biome itself when you set up camp, so there's really little need to bring it back to your other bases. So, you venture into the Mountains for silver, and all of the current recipes that use silver EXCLUSIVELY use silver, aside from one the Silver Sword which also uses iron in its recipe. So that means bringing enough of other metals with you to set up a workshop so that you can actually do that.

Go ahead and plan out ahead of time how much of a non-teleportable resource you need and plan to smelt and use the majority of it on-site.

The fun starts at the top of the mountain, where I tossed the cart from the top and followed it, as it was suggested in the comments! Real fun, 10/10 would do it again btw! Then at the bottom of the mountain began my long lasting journey of making a road through the low mountains and the black forest to the nearest shore where I could finally load up my longship and get killed by the sea serpent! I almost gave up making the road, because using the hoe isn't satisfying.until you the the grip of it! then it really becomes fun and it does actually make very nice roads, and I added in those zigzags (again mentioned here) for the steeper hills and it is actually only ~ double the time as without the cart, but the cart can be loaded at 2000, so it is way more time efficient! and I only needed a few hours to make the baseline of the road, practical but not very beautiful! Looking forward to really beautify this one and make this island my main island for the rest of the game!Īlright, here's my personal advice, because I generally dislike using carts and building long roads, unless its a vanity project. I spent the last 4 hours making that one road. Am I getting something wrong? How do you carry your silver from mountain to base/ship?

And transporting ore from the mountain to the base is near impossible, even with only half a cart full of silver.

They are so unsatisfying to wield, even after making a road through the whole island with the hoe it is a real pain to transport ore. I love this game and (almost) every aspect of it.
